SUNDAYS IN THE CITY
2010 CONCERT SERIES

The WWSO 2010 concert series is designed to build on the success of the orchestra’s very well received 2009 program at IPAC, again featuring four events showcasing the varied world of symphonic music at its most rewarding.

2009 saw the WIN Wollongong Symphony Orchestra move back to the city for a successful series of concert programs in IPAC. 2010 will build on the momentum begun in 2009 with a new series featuring music you know and love, music to remember, music to become acquainted with, along with international guests, soloists from the orchestra and guests from other art forms.

The WWSO is committed to bringing highest quality classical music
accessible, entertaining, educational and uplifting to Illawarra audiences.

“I think the Wollongong audience feels proud to have their own symphony orchestra.”

WHY SUNDAYS?

Sunday is often our only day to relax, enjoy the things we love and take time for special events like the WWSO in town. 1.00pm matinee and 5.00pm early evening give us choice and flexibility to fit with our demanding lifestyles.

WHY IPAC?

Central, intimate, accessible, convenient and comfortable.

The Illawarra Performing Arts Centre with its tiered seating and intimate atmosphere gives concertgoers the chance to see the orchestra in its entirety and experience the theatrics of a full symphony orchestra performance.

Centrally located in the CBD, the IPAC offers café and bar facilities to patrons. There is ample parking nearby and it is easy to reach by public transport. Dining at nearby Educated Palate with special pre and post concert menus tailored to meet audience needs and treat the other senses. The acoustic shell and engineered sound enhancement supplied by our sponsors IPS transform the theatre into a recital hall experience.

THE WIN WOLLONGONG SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

The WIN Wollongong Symphony Orchestra is a highly regarded orchestra within the
Illawarra being one of the flagships of the city’s cultural identity. It is composed of a core of
professional musicians from the Illawarra, Shoalhaven, Wingecarribee and Sydney regions
who are complemented by a selected casual list depending on repertoire. Musicians from
the Orchestra are being called on regularly to represent the city at a variety of events
in addition to their regular series of orchestral concerts. The WWSO was honoured to
perform for the WIN 30th Anniversary dinner in August 2009.
